Support sought for planter box program
Through a generous donation from Citizens 1st Bank in memory of Gayla Mize and Lois Marie Bright, and partnership with Dragonfly Nursery, the beautification of downtown Nacogdoches has come full circle with the City of Nacogdoches Main Street Planter Box Program.
In 2009, Bright Co-op manufactured 20 additional small planter boxes for the downtown district to complement the existing nine large planter boxes. Through generous sponsorships we continue to beautify the downtown district through the maintenance of the planter boxes. While we have experienced our ups and downs our current partnership with the City of Nacogdoches parks department has the boxes in tip top shape, and we need your help to continue on!
We are once again seeking donations from downtown merchants, businesses, property owners, and interested parties to keep this program in place. We are currently looking for sponsors for August 2014-August 2015 for both the twenty small planter boxes, and the nine large planter boxes. Consistency is key, and we are excited that the 2014-2015 year will include plantings and maintenance of ALL of the downtown planters.
For $228 per year, you can “adopt” a small planter and ensure it receives two plantings per year and regular maintenance and watering. For $380 you can “adopt” one of the nine large downtown planters. Planter locations will not be assigned, as it is our goal to have EVERY box sponsored. Your donation will not go to a specific box in the downtown district. Main Street will continue to run an annual “Thank You” ad in the paper for all of our generous sponsors. Main Street will also accept monetary donations in any amount to put towards the planter box project.
